@JoeBuhlig Bass is too high when ornaments start to move 😀

@_MikeSchmitz Apparently. They said they heard the front doors rattling. That’s through two brick walls. 😂
@JoeBuhlig I totally get it. Easy market. Yet, beginner content is blown out of proportion just to use "X hours of video" on the sales page. Sure, a summary of the basics is useful, but most courses don't go beyond what an hour of exploring the app and watching a few YT videos will get you.
@boettges I’m with you. And if a course steps into the advanced side of things, it’s often so niche that it’s not worth the effort to build the course. At that point, one on one coaching is more appropriate.
@JoeBuhlig Regretted most of them, because they usually target beginners.
@boettges Never thought of that one. But most courses I own or create have this aspect. Maybe beginners are most likely to purchase a product? So we build towards them?
@JoeBuhlig I've done a couple, but the key for me actually doing it is whether it is in the grasp of my current skillset. Obsidian? Sure, no problem. JavaScript? Might be a little optimistic. The price also has to be right in case it just doesn't "take" for me.
@MadMike294 Can you elaborate n that last but on price? What qualifies to you?
@JoeBuhlig The real question is did you actually finish it….and the answer is always no.
@JoeBuhlig I’m taking courses on Coursera. Right now on course 5 of 8 towards my data analyst certification.
@JoeBuhlig Don't buy them, have watched quite a few via Linkedin Learning in a previous job and decided money was better spent buying books.
@thekfe I tend to be the same. It always seems like there’s a solid free option available so I’d rather spend money on tools.
As a content creator, this is something I’ve struggled to reconcile.
@JoeBuhlig Nova is my code editor of choice. I’ve been a fan of @panic for many years. They have a well-deserved reputation for attention to detail and reliability.
@timstringer @panic If I didn’t live on command line so much, Nova is where I would be. It’s simply too easy to type “vim” and start editing wherever I am.
@KeepProductive Mostly on @obsdmd with some leftovers on @dueapp and @OmniFocus.
@JoeBuhlig apparently it was a regulatory issue, the crew had been working too long and was coming up against an amount of hours they weren’t allowed to exceed
@drewcoffman Interesting. I would have thought that would be known ahead of time. 🤷♂️
update: they actually did it 😭 https://twitter.com/drewcoffman/status/1503556788762955778
@drewcoffman That sounds like one of those situations were someone gets fired. Imagine the loss to the bottom line of a cancellation.
@JoeBuhlig Good to hear. I was worried about you after a few health scares❤️
@MyNextAction You and me both. Though I have to say I’m doing significantly better than I have in a long time.
@JoeBuhlig @mattbirchler Interesting. Yeah I just don’t run into those problems. The software I’m using shouldn’t be intensive, but it is. And for the most part, M1 Pro handles it well.
Curious what kind of tasks you’re throwing at it.
@joshuaginter @mattbirchler The W10 machine handles HyperV and Powershell for me. The Mini is just a catchall. Keep @obsdmd up all day on it and random files for reference. The Ubuntu is for one-off scripting but mostly for fun. Same for the Pi.
@JoeBuhlig @mattbirchler Parallels is pretty quick and easy to repeat. I work inside both hundreds of times a day.
@joshuaginter @mattbirchler Maybe I’m too old school. At my desk I have a KVM with a Windows 10 machine, Ubuntu machine, M1 Mac Mini, and a Raspberry Pi hooked up to it. That’s besides my MBP. I think I just like being able to give it a task and let it run without eating resources on my main machine.
@joshuaginter The dream! But the PC exists exclusively for games, and I don’t think they’d even launch on Windows for ARM, let alone run well 😔
@mattbirchler @joshuaginter Plus, there are times when you need to switch between them quickly and repeatedly. Thus, it needs to be two machines. At least, for me.
It just occurred to me that I have an I9 (12900K)/ RTX 3080 machine on order right now to use as a stream encoder. Now I’m wondering if Mac Studio would be a better choice.
Nope. At $4k, it’s not worth it. I’d have to see how the M1 Max chips compare to see if that’s worth it at $2k.
Finally! Something in a small form factor that can handle a lot of graphics outputs. That’s what I need. Please tell me Mac Studio is affordable.
@JoeBuhlig what are you using for plain text notes on iOS, assuming it syncs to plain text with nvALT/nvUltra?
@davidjoelhall It's mostly Obsidian on mobile. But I also fuss with them in Working Copy and Pretext.
@doyouevenblog @JoeBuhlig has used Dvorak, and I think I remember him having some reviews of it too…
@JWellsCFO @doyouevenblog Yep. Been using Dvorak for 5-6 years now. Still type on QWERTY boards regularly but Dvorak is my main.
I have finally gotten caught back up with the @bookwormfm podcast. I just ordered the two upcoming books so that I can join @JoeBuhlig and @_MikeSchmitz in reading them.
@JoeBuhlig TULIP on Bookworm, that was not on my bingo card for the show 😂
@JoeBuhlig @_MikeSchmitz New addition to my TWSBI collection!

@kjaymiller Completely inaccurate. Cats are incapable of loving other beings. ducks for cover
@JoeBuhlig @TMobile Are you buying a house in 2001? Or in Mississippi?
For appearances I now have to say "no offense to Mississippi."
