✅ Why does Apple TV exist? Is ice safe? Traveler's Notebook?
And likely more. It's article review time.
Today on the stream. It’s time for an AMA on my Obsidian and OmniFocus systems.

@JoeBuhlig For me I find they work totally different once I get the “dependence” bc I don’t get as anxious/wired/hyper but they still work in terms of motivation/mental energy to do things. But it totally varies! My plan is to do a higher dose on weekdays when I start med school.
@ohthethoughts That makes sense to me. I have tendency to push too hard when I’m in them. So taking a break from meds generally means a break physically. That said, have been debating a one day break instead of two.
@JoeBuhlig Let’s find out ☕️ (but probably would be my guess).
@bobbleheadjoe
I’m sticking with tea today. A bit nervous about changing it up. But skipping meds is already a bit dicey. 🤷🏻♂️
@JoeBuhlig Do you not take meds on the weekend? If you don’t then coffee is probably fine but I’d worry about withdrawing from meds
@ohthethoughts I don't. I haven't had much for withdrawal issues in the past and try to take regular "holidays" from them. Theory is that it keeps it as a tool and not a dependency. That's the theory at least. 😉
@JoeBuhlig That’s interesting - I haven’t observed that, but I always have caffeine, so I guess I wouldn’t notice? That may explain some evenings, though… mind if I ask what you’re taking?
@HeyScottyJ Adderall. Apparently, it’s a known side effect. At least, that’s what I was told. Still new to this. 🤷🏻♂️
@JoeBuhlig Black tea! Ugh. You need to try some green and oolong. :)
@MacSparky 😂 And this is why I ask. Green I’ve heard of. Oolong? I’m so not into tea apparently.
Major downside to my ADHD meds: I’m hyper sensitive to caffeine. Thus, no coffee in the mornings for Joe. 😢
On a positive note: I’m learning to enjoy black tea. Maybe @MacSparky can point me in a good direction?
@JoeBuhlig Praying for you, and hope it was not fatal. Scary
@EABowers Unfortunately, there was been one fatality so far. Other still critical. 😢
Anyone have tips for holding a prayer service after a tragic event? What are some service elements you’ve found helpful and encouraging? #Buffalo
I’m processing my thoughts on this #Buffalo shooting via newsletter since it interrupted my writing this morning. Sending it as soon as I’m done.
This is where working at a church gets difficult. How should we respond to situations like this?

Just learned there was a shooting at a clinic about a mile from me. Prayer time. 🙏

@JoeBuhlig I walked out to the mailbox earlier hoping to find a new pen. Nothing. 🧊
COVID productivity, kids giving up on school, task manager vs task list, daily carry, the real inbox zero (and likely more) are on the potential topics list. 😉

I've been thinking about going to bed since I woke up this morning 😴
Can't wait.
@_isaacmsmith I laid down for a quick nap yesterday and woke up 2 hours later. 🤷♂️

@JoeBuhlig Thanks for interesting webinar yesterday. You suggested I reach out to you to continue the conversation. Please DM me with your email address.
@JoeBuhlig Previously, you had to open the app to see the list. In the Widget, you configure which list or project you want to get a peak at. I just want a quick peak and then get back to work. A quick F6 to view and the F6 to hide works great and doesn’t take any screen real estate away.
@packetvoice That makes sense. Seems very specific. I don’t use those lists at all on my Mac.
Today! Today! Today!
I’m wrapping up the prep work on this right now. We’re covering a lot!
- Reasons to use a PKM
- Conceptual outcomes
- Practical outcomes
- Getting the most out of it
- And, of course, the tools
One hour out!
There are so many of these knowledge tools coming and going that it’s hard to keep them straight. But what happens if you boil them down to the concepts and...
@JoeBuhlig Widgets. Getting a quick snapshot of Things3 and Fantastical when I hit F6 is very valuable to me.
@packetvoice How is this different than the previous Today list? It seems the same to me.
@mcflash99 Still hesitant on those as well. It’s not worth risking my day to day work if it goes wrong. Still some nice tech, though.
This is coming up tomorrow! If you’re interested in something other than Roam, RSVP now. Recording will be available afterwards.

@JoeBuhlig Exactly. That’s why I just wear stretchy pants.

Free webinar next week! Looking at the alternatives to Roam Research. This will be both conceptual and practical.
