👋 I'm Joe Buhlig. I strive to build productivity systems that stand the test of time and help me do more than check boxes. I'm here to help you do the same.
🎙 I read a lot of books and talk about it.
🐿 I can't focus on one thing for long, so I write a lot of code for an eclectic grouping of projects.
📓 And I'm a bit obsessed with finding non-proprietary solutions to digital problems. Thus, text files for the win! 🎉
I'll send you the link to a six-minute overview video of my August 2020 spreads when you sign up for my newsletter, The Weekly Impulse.

Scheduled some time to think this afternoon. Care to join me? I'm working out my thoughts on Big Tech owning my data.
I've been thinking about this a lot in the last few weeks. It's time to do some PKM and make some notes about it.--------------------------------------------...
I can't say I'm a huge fan of Microsoft, but this is pretty sweet.
Microsoft has introduced a lineup of accessories that are made to be customized to fit the needs of people with disabilities who have difficulties using traditional mice and keyboards.

As an intro to my new “Thinking Time” weekly segment, we first need to do a full walkthrough of my @obsdmd setup and how I have it styled.

Big perk to the Rodecaster Pro. I can take phone calls with my podcasting rig and record the conversation. Great for keeping records of trouble calls with mortgage companies and such. 😉
It’s always refreshing to find a book that talks about the things we don’t want to talk about.
Join our discussion this afternoon!
If you missed the news earlier today, you can catch the recording here. Thanks for your support, team!
I've been working on a major change to my entire online portfolio. It's time to show you what I've been up to.-----------------------------------------------...
It’s been too long. Now live!
I've been working on a major change to my entire online portfolio. It's time to show you what I've been up to.-----------------------------------------------...
We’ll discuss the biggest change I’ve ever made online, what I’ve been up to the last year, and will have some sneak peaks at my Obsidian setup in the process.

Next week. Big changes.
😆 It’s more of a hope and aspiration than anything.
I’m becoming a pretty big fan of Bunch. Thanks, @ttscoff!
At its heart, Bunch is an app launcher and quitter that uses plain text files to tell it what to do. It can do much more, so if you want...

If you’ve been having issues with the Alfred-Obsidian workflow, try the latest version. I removed the python dependency.

It’s still amazing to me that I can get up in the morning, look out the window, and see deer and turkeys. Loving it! 🦌 🦃
Who wouldn’t look forward to a Victor Frankl book?
I’ve been getting lazy with my project management workflows. Thanks for enabling me, @alfredapp and @obsdmd!
With the rise of PKM tools comes an interesting dilemma. If set up well, your PKM can house all the information you need to know about a project that you...
Today I learned that it’s actually harder than expected to set the balance between the bass and mid/highs of a movie theatre sound setup. I tend to make the bass too high. 🤷🏻♂️
This is a big part of why I’m such a fan of plain text files. There will always be something that can read/write them.
Thought: The less technology involved, the better the tool.
Related: The tool with the least moving parts will last the longest.
Also related: Digital bits are moving parts.
